Lewiston Village Cemetery CPR Project (Cemetery Preservation and Restoration)
The Lewiston Public Library’s Jon F. Popkey Genealogy Room is participating in a collaborative effort to transcribe, preserve and restore the beautiful Lewiston Village Cemetery. Anyone interested in being a part of this exciting endeavor may sign up at the front desk. An informational meeting will take place on Monday, November 5th, at 6:15, at the cemetery (spooky!).
Participation is simple. As our first project includes transcription of the stones, it is an easy and fun procedure. All ages are welcome to participate. It merely requires you to take a form to the cemetery, find a grave that has not already been transcribed and jot down the pertinent information. You can go any time that may be convenient for you, or you can go at the group times which will be set up by the Library. Bring any finished reports to the Library. It’s that easy! At our informational meeting we will go over the forms and the maps of the cemetery.
This wonderful project is sponsored by the Lewiston Council on the Arts and the Historical Association of Lewiston.
