Thanks again to everyone who came on June 4th to celebrate the Grand Opening of the Jon F. Popkey Genealogy Room. Special thanks to Mrs. Peggy Salada, president of The Friends of the Lewiston Library. It would not have been such an outstanding success without Peggy’s hard work and devotion to the library. Also–special thanks to Jo Merino and her amazing decorating skills!
So where do we go from here? Now, it’s your turn to come on in and dig up some ancestors! If you don’t know where to start, or you’ve hit some brick walls–make an appointment and we’ll do the best we can to point you in the right direction. If you’d like to come in and browse our collection of nearly 100 books and periodicals–please don’t hesitate. Go to the main circulation desk and ask to use the Jon F. Popkey Genealogy Room. You will need your library card. The staff will take you there and then you’re on your own. You can relax in our comfy chair with a book about cemetery research skills or perhaps your Irish ancestors are beckoning. The computer takes you to Ancestry Library Edition and Heritage Quest Online, which you can also access from our other patron computers. The world is virtually at your fingertips. Feel free to take some of our Pedigree forms and Family Group sheets.
Happy Hunting!
