Well, yesterday was our grand opening for the Jon F. Popkey Genealogy Room, and what a success it was. Well over 100 people came to the reception, including a number of the late Jon Popkey’s family from out of town. Most noted, was his sister, Jean Gilbert, who generously donated $50,000 to the Lewiston Public Library in honor of her late brother Jon Popkey. In addition to the wonderful donation, Jean also donated antique German furniture. To complete the room a new computer & printer were purchased, as well as a reading chair.
